NOWADAYS THE DETERMINATION OF PRODUCT COMPOSITION IN THE OPERATION IS ONE OF THE IMPORTANT SUBJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN STUDYING.IN THIS EXPERIMENTAL WORK, IN ORDER TO DETERMINE COMPOSITION OF METHANOL_WATER SOLUTION IN A PACKED DISTILLATION TOWER IS USED REFRACTOMETRY METHOD.IN THEORY, MANY PARAMETERS CAN INFLUENCE THE REFRACTIVE INDEX. AMONG THESE PARAMETERS, WE CAN MENTION TEMPERATURE AND WAVELENGTH AS PARAMETERS THAT ARE EXPERIMENTALLY MORE CONTROLLABLE.IN THIS EXPERIMENTAL STUDY A FIXED BEAM WITH A WAVELENGTH OF 598.3 NANOMETER (SODIUM VAPOR’S LAMP) IS CHOSEN AS A LIGHT SOURCE AND VARIABLES TEMPERATURES ARE USED IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE AND OBTAIN A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE AND ITS CORRECTION FACTOR. IT WAS DONE 115 EXPERIMENTS IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES FOR INVESTIGATION THE EFFECT OF IT. IN THESE STUDIES PLOTS OF DIFFERENT ISOTHERMS OF METHANOL_WATER REFRACTIVE INDEX VERSUS THE CONCENTRATION SHOWS THAT THE ISOTHERMS ARE HYPERBOLIC AND ALMOST PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER.

چکیده: 

An equation has been suggested which correlate the NMR and refractometry results to evaluate the stability constant of electron donor acceptor complexes. Using this equation the stability constant of complexation between carbon tetrachloride and toluene in cyclohexane has been studied by refractometry and NMR spectroscopy.

DETERMINATION OF SOLUBLE SUGAR CONTENTS IN FRESH FRUITS AND THEIR JUICE PRODUCTS IS AN IMPORTANT FOOD NUTRITION ANALYSIS MEANS FOR EVALUATING QUALITY AND DETECTING ADULTERATION [1, 2]. THE SWEETNESS OF FRUITS, SUCH AS MELONS, IS THE CENTRAL CHARACTERISTIC IN DETERMINING FRUIT QUALITY. MELON SWEETNESS IS DETERMINED BY THE TOTAL SUGAR CONTENT AND BY THE RATIOS AMONG THE MAIN ACCUMULATED SUGARS- GLUCOSE, FRUCTOSE AND SUCROSE [3]. IN THIS STUDY, THE AMOUNT OF THESE SUGARS AS MAJOR CARBOHYDRATES IN NATIVE MELONS WAS MEASURED BY HPLC.UNDER THE OPTIMIZED HPLC CONDITIONS, 3 MONOSACCHARAIDES WERE SEPARATED USING A SHANDON HYPERSIL H5APS COLUMN (250 MM× 4.6 MM) AND ISOCRATIC ELUTION WITH ACETONITRILE/WATER (85: 15) AT FLOW RATE OF 1 ML/MIN. THE STANDARD SOLUTIONS AND SAMPLES WERE PREPARED IN ACN/H2O (50% V/V). THE HPLC METHOD WAS ASSUMED TO PROVIDE THE REFERENCE VALUE OF THE ANALYTE FOR CALIBRATION. THE TOTAL SUGAR CONTENT OF THE SAMPLES WAS DETECTED BY REFRACTOMETRY USING A SIMPLE INSTRUMENT, ARE IN A GOOD AGREEMENT WITH THE TOTAL HPLC VALUES. THE RESULTS FROM BOTH METHODS ARE CRITICALLY EVALUATED AND THEIR IMPACT FOR STUDIES OF AUTHENTICITY IS DISCUSSED.

Background: The main drawbacks of zirconia are its high refractive index and opacity. This study aimed to assess the effect of sintering temperature on the translucency of Ivoclar e. max ZirCAD (IEZ), and White Peaks Symphony (WPS) zirconia blocks. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, 30 IEZ and 30 WPS zirconia blocks measuring 10 mm × 10 mm × 1 mm were prepared and underwent sintering in three subgroups at 1440°, C, 1500°, C, and 1530°, C. The specimens were then photographed against a black and a white background with a standard digital camera. The L*, a*, and b* color parameters were measured using Adobe Photoshop software, and translucency was calculated. Data were analyzed using one‑, way ANOVA and Tukey’, s test (P < 0. 05). Results: In both the IEZ and WPS groups, the maximum and minimum translucency parameters were recorded in 1530°, C and 1440°, C subgroups, respectively. The difference in the mean translucency was significant among the three subgroups of each zirconia group (P < 0. 001). The mean translucency of WPS zirconia was significantly higher than that of IEZ zirconia (P < 0. 01), and maximum difference was noted at 1500°, C sintering temperature. Conclusion: Increasing the sintering temperature from 1440°, C to 1530°, C can significantly increase the translucency of IEZ and WPS zirconia blocks, and can be considered to improve the quality of zirconia restorations.

Background: Accumulation of pleural and peritoneal fluid is seen in some diseases. In order to diagnose the disease and start the treatment, one of the most important actions will be to differentiate between exudates and transudates. The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of measuring the specific gravity of the fluid through refractometer and strip in differentiation of exudates from transudates. Methods: The serum of patients was evaluated for protein, LDH, cholesterol, bilirubin and albumin. The fluid was evaluated for the number of white blood cells, protein, LDH, cholesterol, bilirubin and albumin. Then the fluids were divided into exduate and transudate categories based on Light and Gradient criteria. Finally, the specific gravity of the fluids was measured by refractometer, Erma, Japan and Medi-Test Combi II. The categorized fluids were compared with Gold Standards (final diagnosis) so that the sensitivity and specificity of Light and Gradient criteria in the transudate-exudate differentiation were specified. Results: In comparison with Light criteria, the cut off level of 1022 specific gravity measured by refractometer for pleural effusion has sensitivity, specificity of 92. 1%, 68. 1%respectively. In evaluation of peritoneal fluid considering cut off point 1023, measured by refractometer has reliable sensitivity 92. 4%, specificity 70. 4 compared with standard gradient method. Conclusion: Differentiating transudate from exudates by measuring its special gravity by refractometer will have acceptable sensitivity and specificity, and when rapidity is necessary or access to lab equipment is limited, this method could be used.

هدف: مطالعات اخیر وجود پدیده جبرانی معکوس چشم (COCT: compensatory ocular countertorsion) متعاقب تیلت یا کج کردن طرفی سر را مورد تردید قرار داده اند، بدین منظور این مطالعه جهت تعیین نحوه عملکرد پدیده COCT صورت پذیرفت.روش پژوهش: تعداد 80 چشم مبتلا به آستیگماتیسم منظم برابر یا بیش از 2 دیوپتر با اتورفرکشن سیکلوپلژیک وارد مطالعه شدند. افراد مورد مطالعه غیر از عیب انکساری، اختلال چشمی دیگری نداشتند. اتورفرکشن عینی (objective) در حالت اولیه با قرار گرفتن سر در حالت عمودی و همچنین در زوایای 5، 10، 15، 20 و 25 درجه در سمت راست و چپ انجام گرفت. هر گونه تغییری در محور آستیگماتیسم به عنوان اختلال COCT در نظر گرفته شد. جهت انجام محاسبات فوق یک وسیله تیلتومتر طراحی شد که بدون ایجاد اختلال در انجام اتورفرکشن در وضعیت های مختلف، بر روی سر بیمار قرار می گرفت.یافته ها: تعداد 70 چشم مراحل مطالعه را به طور کامل طی کردند. میانگین سن بیماران- 48) 26.5±4.96  15) سال و میانگین میزان چرخش معکوس جبرانی چشم برابر با (0– 5) 1.87±1.81 درجه در تیلت 5 درجه سر و(0– 20) 6.91±4.96درجه در تیلت 25 درجه سر بود. میزان چرخش معکوس چشم در تغییر محل سر به طرف چپ به طور معنی داری کمتر از میزان چرخش معکوس چشم در موقعیت تیلت به سمت راست بود (P<0.026). میزان Incyclotorsional COCT در یک چشم الزاما با مقدار Excyclotorsional COCT چشم مقابل برابر نبود، اما در مجموع این عدم هماهنگی چرخش دو چشم از نظر آماری معنی دار نبود (P>0.237).نتیجه گیری: COCT یک پدیده غیرقابل اعتماد است. کوچک ترین مقدار تیلت می تواند منجر به اشتباه در تعیین محور آستیگمات در زمان تعیین عیوب انکساری گردد.

چکیده: 

فیبرینوژن یکی از فاکتورهای اصلی و مهم در انعقاد خون و نیز از پروتئین های مرحله حاد مثبت می باشد که در مواردی از جمله التهاب، عفونت و استرس میزان آن افزایش می یابد. سنجش مدت زمان ترومبین و ترومبوپلاستین فعال نسبی از آزمایش های غربالگری است که به منظور بررسی وضعیت سیستم انعقادی انجام می شود. تحقیق حاضر به منظور بررسی تأثیر فصل بر میزان فیبرینوژن و مدت زمان ترومبین و ترومبوپلاستین فعال نسبی گاو انجام  شد. به منظور انجام این تحقیق از 10 رأس گاو به ظاهر سالم متعلق به یک گاوداری دراطراف شهرستان یاسوج با رعایت شرایط استریل در دو فصل زمستان و تابستان خون گیری به عمل آمده وپلاسمای سیتراته جداسازی شد. میزان فیبرینوژن(FIB)  به روش انکسار سنجی رسوبی و مدت زمان پروترومبین (PT) و ترومبوپلاستین فعال نسبی(APTT) به روش کوآگولومتری اندازه گیری شد. آزمون های آماری نشان داد که بین میانگین میزان فیبرینوژن در تابستان و زمستان اختلاف آماری معنی دار وجود دارد (p<0.05). اما تغییرات مدت زمان پروترومبین و ترومبوپلاسمین فعال نسبی به اندازه ای نبود که بین این پارامترها در فصل تابستان و زمستان اختلاف آماری معنی دار مشاهده شود (.(p>0.05 نتیجه این که سرمای فصل زمستان می تواند میزان فیبرینوژن را به طور قابل ملاحظه ای افزایش دهد، اما بر روی مسیرهای انعقادی تاثیر چندانی ندارد.

Vinylpyrrolidone-vinyl acetate (VP-VA) hydrophobically associating water-soluble copolymers were synthesized by free radical copolymerization. The effects of hydrophobic content and temperature on the viscosity and refractive index behaviour were investigated in detail. The critical concentration C* of the hydrophobically associating water-soluble copolymers was studied in the static state and in flowing solution by refractometry and viscosimetry, respectively. A dramatic decrease in solution viscosity of P(VP-VA) copolymers is observed with increasing the VA content at all temperatures. Also as the VA content in the copolymer increased, the solution refractive index of the copolymer decreased. The lowering in viscosity and refractive index reflects the contraction of the polymer coil because of intramolecular hydrophobic interactions. Variation of the dynamic and static critical concentration as a function of the temperature for P(VP-VA) copolymer in water has been investigated. The critical concentrations are lower when determined by refractive index measurements in the static state compared to the critical concentrations determined in the dynamic state using viscometer.

ETHANOL USES AS A MAJOR CONSTITUENT IN THE SOLVENT-BASED CLEANERS AND INCREASES THE CLEANING POWER OF THE PRODUCT. ALSO, IT CAUSES MORE STABILITY OF NON-POLAR COMPONENTS OF THE CLEANER SUCH AS ESSENCES AND FATTY ALCOHOLS IN THE AQUEOUS MEDIUM. THEREFORE, DETERMINATION OF ETHANOL CONTENTS IN THE SOLVENT-BASED CLEANERS IS IMPORTANT FOR EVALUATING QUALITY AND DETECTING ADULTERATION [1]. THE COMMON ANALYTICAL METHODS FOR MEASURING OF ETHANOL IN THE SOLVENT-BASED CLEANERS ARE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY AND ALCOHOLOMETRY [2].IN THIS STUDY, THE ETHANOL CONTENTS IN A SPECIFIC SOLVENT-BASED CLEANER WERE DETECTED BY REFRACTOMETRIC METHOD USING A SIMPLE INSTRUMENT. THE SAMPLES CONTAINING DIFFERENT CONCENTRATION OF ETHANOL (BETWEEN 5-20 WT%), 0.35 WT% OF SURFACTANTS, 0.1 WT% ESSENCE AND OTHER ADDITIVES PASSED THROUGH THE COLUMN PACKED WITH ACTIVATED CARBON LARGE PARTICLES THAT WAS SATURATED WITH ETHANOL. SO, ALL COMPONENTS OF THE CLEANER EXCEPT FROM ETHANOL ADSORBED BY ACTIVATED CARBON.FINALLY, THE ETHANOL CONCENTRATION IN THE SAMPLE WAS DETERMINED BY COMPARING REFRACTIVE INDEX OF OUTPUT ETHANOL FROM THE COLUMN WITH CALIBRATED CURVE WHICH IS REFRACTIVE INDEX OF ETHANOL ON THE BASIS OF WT% OF ETHANOL AT 25OC (FIG.1).10 CM3 OF ADSORBENT AND FLOW RATE OF 1.2 ML/MIN FOR PASSING THE SAMPLE USED AS OPTIMIZED CONDITIONS FOR COLUMN. THE RESULTS FROM ALL THREE METHODS (GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY, ALCOHOLOMETRY AND REFRACTOMETRY) ARE CRITICALLY EVALUATED AND THEIR IMPACT FOR STUDIES OF AUTHENTICITY IS DISCUSSED. THE REFRACTOMETRIC METHOD IS SIMPLER THAN GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY AND HAS PROPER ACCURACY IN COMPARISON WITH ALCOHOLOMETRY.
